Female mallard duck, Nanaimo, B.C., Vancouver Island, Canada
Usually the male mallards get all the attention, however, on this day, I was fascinated by this female duck and all her stunning patterns, the glorious golden sunlight on the pond, the crystal clear and unique reflections (see the ball on her head?), along with her relationship with me from a distance, all added to my new and continued curiosity with ducks.
