2020—Write It Anyway

Did you make any New Years resolutions? I haven’t, in many years.

However, I do love to start my New Years Day off in nature if at all possible. So this January 1st 2020 I went to enjoy one of my favourite nature trail walks at Rathtrevor Provincial Park, in Parksville on Vancouver Island.

It was a gorgeous day with sun and warmth and loads of people—more than I have ever seen there on a 1st of January day, and as always I walked with camera(s) in hand, always seeking images, both to calm my busy mind but also to find and make beauty—hopefully even more beautiful.

As the nature park in paradise has been developed even further for camping and tourism over the years, it was harder than ever before to find a composition in the forest that I have loved for so long, where there wasn’t either a picnic table or an outhouse or outbuilding in the background peeking through the trees. I happily did succeed in getting some beautiful photos both on iPhone (posted to Instagram) and also with my Fujifilm camera (the images posted here on this page).

My simple goal for this first of the year 2020 imagery?

Color. Green, green green and more green.

Also, I love the texture made by bark and moss, the light, and the beautiful bokeh created by the backlit deciduous trees in the background behind these tall evergreens. Line and hard tough textured surfaces sharply in focus, a contrast to the abstract and softened circular shapes behind.

Calm. Beautiful color forest greens.

My other goal in the forest? Enjoy myself. Look. See. Feel.

My goal for this blog post? Write it anyway. Perfectionism has no place here today, a day to do it anyway, ready or not.
